Govt to Send 8 Lakh Pakistanis for Jobs Abroad. The Government of Pakistan has shared a strong plan to send 8 lakh Pakistanis abroad for jobs in 2026. This goal is higher than 2025, when around 7.4 lakh workers were sent overseas.
The update was shared by Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, during his official visit to the United Arab Emirates.
Focus on Skills and Training
The minister said Pakistan is working on proper training institutes.
These institutes will teach soft skills, job behavior, and pre-departure training.
Soft skills mean:
- How to talk politely
- How to follow rules
- How to work in a team
This training will help Pakistani workers get better jobs and better salaries abroad.
Overseas Pakistanis and Remittances
At present, nearly 1 crore Pakistanis live outside the country.
Out of them, more than 17 lakh are living in the UAE.
These overseas Pakistanis send remittances to Pakistan.
Remittances mean money sent home to support families and the economy.
Visit to Pakistan Consulate in Dubai
During his visit, Salik Hussain also went to the Pakistan Consulate in Dubai.
He reviewed services like:
- Passports
- National ID cards
- Community welfare help
He met Consul General Hussain Muhammad and stressed easy and fast services for Pakistanis living abroad.
Pre-Immigration Clearance System
In January 2026, Pakistan and the UAE agreed to start a pre-immigration clearance system.
This system will help workers complete checks before leaving Pakistan.
Karachi has been selected for the pilot project.
If successful, it will be expanded to other cities.
Cooperation with Kuwait
During the same visit, Salik Hussain also met officials from Public Authority for Manpower of Kuwait.
Pakistan showed interest in signing a Labour MoU with Kuwait.
Pakistan also requested access to Kuwait’s manpower portal to make hiring easier.
Both countries agreed to:
- Hold regular meetings
- Improve labour cooperation
- Create more job chances for Pakistanis
